Five On Friday

Thank you so much for your kind comments on last weeks Five On Friday post.  Hubby was thrilled with all of your kind comments and a little bit overwhelmed too!  Thank you for saying such nice things to him, it was so lovely of you all!!!

Speaking though of comments, I feel that lately several of you have asked questions that I haven't necessarily been able to reply directly to.  So, I have gone back over the last few weeks of posts and replied directly in the comments.  If you asked me something go back and look and hopefully your answer will be there.  Give me a nudge if it isn't!

This week I am afraid you are back to just me!  Carrying on the crafty posts that I have been catching up with and sharing with you this week I thought that today I would go a little further back and share five projects from the past that I have really loved.

One

I made these cushions in 2013 and they are still in our living room looking great.  They are applique - to my own design of course! - using genuine vintage fabric.  I am so happy that I made them!

The good news is that I also have more of this fabric and when I get round to some machine sewing I hope to make something else with the fabric that I hope will also be lovely.

You can read the original post here.

Two

Apart from Five On Friday posts which are always top of the stats, the post that is always top is one about a pincushion that I made using a kit that came free with a magazine.  It is called Mollie Makes Pretty Rose Cross Stitch.  The original post is here

I gave this pincushion away as a gift and it is in use and is much loved.  I think that I have another of the kits tucked away somewhere so perhaps someday I will make another one.

Three

Another of my favourites is my Seaglass Shawl.  I made this last year and I love it.  The beads around the edge, the design, the softness of the yarn, which has got softer with use (Debbie Bliss Rialto Lace) and just better all round.

Did I say that I love it!

Original post here.

Four

More crochet goodness!  This post - here - was, I think, where I first shared my love of crochet with you.  If you have been reading my blog for a while now you might remember this blanket.  It was eventually finished and is still in use and much loved.  In fact I can't believe how old it is now!

You get that I love crochet don't you?

Five

Well, it has been hard to narrow it down to just five and there are many things that I could pipe on about here, things that I have and am designing right now - because the thing I love most is always the thing that I am currently working on - makes from the past and all kinds of other things.

So I will leave it there for now.  Open to whatever is coming up next!  Craft.  Here I come!  Just waiting to dive in for more!!

Thank you for your kind words on all of my posts this week, I have enjoyed them a great deal.  I think that I am getting back into a balance of blogging and I am sure that there is always more catching up to do and with next week being a podcast week I will be out of kilter again, but it is good to be back to it again.

Thank you for your comments here, for joining in and for going and visiting other participants.

I hope you have a great weekend!!

Amy

  6. 'm a crochet lover too as you know Amy. Hope you managed to get the Etsy posting sorted, a steep learning curve all these new things. As for me I now know that ALL my comments to WORDPRESS go into people's spam. I'm sad about this but there is a glitch with my blog and wordpress. If anyone else suffers from this and WP bloggers may want to check their spam! Glitches are the bain of my life...

  9. You have inspired me. I AM going to find a crochet hook and learn to do it. I doubt if I'll ever be good enough to make that shawl, but I am determined to make a blanket.

  15. Such lovely projects Amy, I remember your pincushion and lounge cushions posts, always lovely to see these again. You are very clever with the appliqué, I am not so brave in that area yet, but might give it a go one day. Love the shawl, so delicate and pretty.

  16. I used to crochet years ago, well I learnt to crochet years ago, but didn't keep it up. Just lately though I have been thinking of trying it again. I have found it quite relaxing to have something to just pick up and do a few rows lately (knitting), but I have finished my project except for the stitching up.
I enjoyed looking back at your completed projects :)

  17. How wonderful that we have literally been following in your footsteps this week, what an amazing place to work at Basildon Park. How lucky are we to have seen your shawls in Lady Illife's bedroom, you do incredible work looking at these projects above.
Here's to a rain free weekend!

  25. Great Five, Amy. I love looking through old projects especially when I'm in need of inspiration. I love the rose Pincushion (probably because I'm a cross stitcher) and the shawl is just gorgeous (I'm just in awe of it!). Your crafty post earlier in the week definitely got me thinking!

  38. Great post full of lovely crafty bits. I think the shawl is amazing & I was blown away the first time I saw it & still am. Crafting takes in so many things, that is nice seeing all your different makes, although crochet is your first love. Enjoy & take care.

  41. I remember when you showed the seagrass shawl before and I love it too, glad it is soft and wearing well. Your previous post quandary about Etsy is just that, how does one make money when the S and H is costly and a determining factor for buyers? Hopefully a brilliant idea will come to you that makes sense and solves the problem.

  42. I always love seeing what crafty things you're up to Lady. But I still think that shawl is beyond gorgeous - like breathtaking!!

Blessings on your weekend and thanks for always being such a wonderful Hostess! xoxo

  50. Sorry I didn't join in this week...I am barely getting back to my blog at all after the break. LOVE your wonderful crochet items, especially that seaglass shawl. I'll be back next week. Hope you have a good one (and hubby is doing better)...see you then!

  51. Lovely creations Amy. I have the cross stitch from Mollie Makes but haven't completed it yet. I am also crocheting a giant granny blanket. They are a great way of using up your yarn stash. I have decided to crochet it the size of a single bed. Still a way to go, but there is no hurry and I am enjoying making it.
